this morning wasn't too bad.
this afternoon at work, however, just went downhill.
nothing extremely terrible happened, of course.
but it's below the cut because i ramble.
to start off though, i got a call from columbia college's branch in orlando.
they wanted to schedule an interview, but she asked some questions first.
she asked how i had heard about the school and then said the salary...
... which was really bad. like, i'd take a MASSIVE pay cut.
and honestly, as much as i loathe my job some days, i couldn't financially give it up (unless it was forced from me).
after that, i came back from lunch to find that suddenly everyone in IT was answering the cases i sent to them.
one of the guys in IT gave me sass about something and i wasn't in the mood.
my boss told me what to IM him and tell him to do. so i did.
he countered with MORE sass - like "oh, yeah, we can't do that."
when my boss knows full well they CAN.
so my boss went to the guy who's in charge of IT to sort that out.
and - lo and behold - it got done right.
here's the thing that bugs me so much about the IT people: they think they can walk all over us.
they honestly treat us the way they do because they know we're not important enough to do anything back.
... but see, they should be smart enough to know we'll run to our boss (who IS important) with whatever they say.
and yet they STILL sass back answers. it just frustrates me to no end sometimes.
i was legitimately shaking today because i was so frustrated.
not to mention i have like, 4 projects and none of which got completely done yet.
my company is ALL over the place.
... speaking of how all over the place we are, here's also what happened today:
the older lady in our office - tomi - got moved into howard's old office.
except that the way she found out she was being moved was when she came back from lunch and someone from IT was LITERALLY MOVING HER STUFF OUT.
this is how insane my company is. who does that?!
so needless to say, not the most wonderful day on the map so far.
nothing like a layoff though, thankfully.
my boss is nice - it was 5:35 and we were still in the office and he looks at us and says: "it's 5:30. what are you still doing here? go home." (and you don't have to tell us twice!)
and then, came the highlight of my day: i posted the latest blog-review this morning and (as usual) promoted the living daylights out of it, because this is the highlight of my week usually, and everyone on twitter is probably sick of seeing and/or hearing about it. :P anyway, i promoted to harmon, gillian, and then to megan ganz too because i just think she's fantastic (as a woman writer, i admire her). well, i was overjoyed because i saw this:
thank you, megan ganz for literally making my day.
i grinned like an idiot when i saw that tweet.
so insanely happy.
and i will spend the rest of my weekend relaxing and enjoying tomorrow night's "community" paleyfest via live stream!
